St John’s Charities Support

St John’s Church has always seen charity support as a key part of its role, and currently 10% of its giving is passed directly to the nominated charities that it supports – those being Revive International (a childrens refuge in north eastern Brazil), Chocolate Box (A womens refuge in Sheffield) and CART(A Huddersfield charity supporting needy people in Africa through goods and projects.

The PCC also organise the Lent and Harvest Appeals. In recent years these have helped to raise funds for 2 Lepton scouts towards the cost of attending the Scout Jamboree in South Korea, to buy comfort bags for front line Ukrainian soldiers, the Lepton CE Primary Academy Garden Club, to support the Welcome Centre, a Huddersfield charity that helps people and families in crisis with food, household items and a range of other support.
